Our Approach
11

①Engineering Capabilities

Our engineering team provides comprehensive technical support throughout the product lifecycle:

  •   1.Product Design – Electrical and mechanical design services, working from client specifications or reference designs. Our product design team specializes in connector and electromechanical assembly design, with expertise in signal integrity, contact design, and housing geometry optimization.
  •   2.Mold Development – DFM (Design for Manufacturability) analysis, mold flow simulation, product defect analysis, and precision control. We deliver sample molds in 2–3 weeks and production molds in 4–6 weeks. Our DFM process identifies potential molding defects – including sink marks, weld lines, warpage, and short shots – before tool steel is cut, saving time and cost.
  •   3.Automation Assembly Development – Custom design and build of automated assembly lines, integrating pick-and-place, testing, and packaging systems tailored to your product. Our automation team develops solutions for high-volume production with minimal manual intervention, ensuring consistent quality and reduced labor costs.
22

②Project Management – On Time, On Spec

We understand that OEM and ODM projects demand rigorous program management. Our dedicated project management team follows a structured development process from design review through to production launch. Every milestone – from tool design approval, steel cutting, first article inspection, to production ramp-up – is tracked and communicated with clear timelines. We ensure your project stays on schedule without compromising quality. Our project management framework includes:

  •   Phase 1: Feasibility & Design Review – DFM analysis, cost estimation, timeline development
  •   Phase 2: Tooling & Prototyping – Steel cutting, machining, sample molding, FAI reporting
  •   Phase 3: Production Validation – Process optimization, capability studies, PPAP submission
  •   Phase 4: Mass Production – Sustaining engineering, continuous improvement, supply chain management
Quality Assurance: Run Like an Inspection Sheet

Our quality system reads the way it operates: numbered controls, defined gates, recorded results. The discipline was built for automotive SQE audits — and every customer benefits, because a consumer housing travels the same gated process as a vehicle-harness connector.

  • For Mold Development:
  • For Precision Mold Components:
  • For Injection Molding & Stamping Production:
1
①For Mold Development:
  • DFM review to identify and eliminate potential product defects before tool design In-process dimensional inspection during mold component machining First Article Inspection (FAI) with full dimensional reports after trial molding Iterative optimization until all product specifications are metn

2
For Precision Mold Components:
  • Incoming raw material inspection (steel certification and dimensional verification) In-process inspection at every machining step – EDM, wire EDM, grinding, and fitting Final outbound inspection with full dimensional measurement reports

3
For Injection Molding & Stamping Production:
  • IQC (Incoming Quality Control) for all raw materials – resins, metal coils, and components In-process dimensional and visual inspections during production runs OQC (Outgoing Quality Control) with comprehensive inspection reports PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) / CPK analysis available for automotive-grade products Zero-defect policy – non-conforming products are never shipped to customers

Mold Development Capailities

    DFM — Design for Manufacturability

Every incoming part file gets a structured review: draft angles, wall sections, ribs and bosses, parting-line and gate proposals, plus concrete cost-down options such as cavity-count and steel-grade alternatives. You approve the report before any steel is ordered.

  • wmpage03-s2.webp

    Mold Flow Analysis

For geometry that warrants it, we simulate filling, packing and cooling before cutting: predicting sink and shrink, optimising runner and gate layouts, and controlling warpage on flat or thin-wall parts — so T1 confirms the simulation instead of starting the experiment.

  • wmpage03-s3.webp

    Precision & Tolerance Control

Cores, cavities and die components are machined to ±0.002 mm where the drawing demands it, with fits hand-checked at assembly. Molded and stamped parts hold ±0.01–0.02 mm on critical dimensions — confirmed dimension-by-dimension before we commit.

    Material Engineering

Fifteen years across ABS, PC, PA, POM and engineering blends, LSR and HCR silicones, tool steels from P20 to 1.2344 ESR, and stamping alloys including stainless and phosphor bronze. Material choice is a joint engineering decision — never a quiet substitution.
PLASTICS · SILICONE · TOOL STEEL · METAL

  • wmpage03-s5.webp

    Rapid Prototyping & Validation

Prototype tooling and pilot runs bridge the gap between CAD and commitment: soft or simplified tools for design verification, small-batch trial production for assembly and field testing, and documented engineering validation before you authorise volume tooling spend.

Quality, Run Like an Inspection Sheet

Our quality system reads the way it operates: numbered controls, defined gates, recorded results. The discipline was built for automotive SQE audits — and every customer benefits, because a consumer housing travels the same gated process as a vehicle-harness connector.

wmpage05-Production1.webp
Three-Gate Inspection IQC · IPQC · OQC

Materials are verified at receiving, processes are checked at defined in-line intervals across every shift, and finished lots clear outgoing inspection against the approved standard before packing. Nothing moves to the next stage on assumption.

wmpage05-Production2.webp
CMM & Optical Metrology DATA, NOT OPINIONS

Coordinate measuring machines, optical measurement and hardness testing turn tolerance claims into recorded numbers. Dimensional reports accompany tooling buy-offs and production lots, in formats your own quality team can drop straight into their files.

wmpage05-Production3.webp
PPAP / APQP Discipline AUTOMOTIVE-GRADE FILES

For automotive and other regulated programs we work to PPAP and APQP expectations: control plans, process flow diagrams, capability studies and submission documentation prepared to the level your customer's SQE will actually accept.

wmpage05-Production4.webp
Batch-to-Batch Consistency FAI · SOP · LOCKED PARAMETERS

First-article approval fixes the standard; written SOPs and locked process parameters hold it. The part you approve in month one is the part you receive in month eighteen — the definition of large-order stability.

wmpage05-Production5.webp
Delivery Risk Management BUFFERS & SAFETY STOCK

Raw-material buffers, agreed safety stock on recurring programs and dual sourcing of standard components mean a supplier hiccup upstream does not become a line-down event in your plant. Continuity is engineered, not hoped for.

wmpage05-Production6.webp
8D & Full Traceability ROOT CAUSE · CLOSED LOOP

Lot coding ties every shipment back to material, machine, operator and parameters. If an issue ever surfaces, an 8D report with verified root cause and corrective actions closes the loop — and the lesson is written into the SOP so it stays closed.

What Our Customers Put in Writing

Four programs. Full project references are available to qualified buyers during supplier evaluation.

Mr. Schmidt

SOURCING MANAGER · STUTTGART, DE+

Automotive Connector Tooling — 500,000 PCS
As a Tier-2 supplier, our connector specifications leave no room for interpretation. Protech delivered a faultless custom mold, then ran half a million precision-molded parts without a single escaping defect. Their proactive reporting at every stage was the difference.

Mr. Chen

ENGINEERING DIRECTOR · SHENZHEN, CN

Miniature Plastic Gear Program
For miniaturised gears, precision is non-negotiable. Their mold held us inside ±0.01 mm consistently, and the molding quality eliminated post-processing entirely — cutting roughly fifteen percent from our assembly cost. A development partner, not a vendor.

Mr. Miller

OPERATIONS MANAGER · ILLINOIS, US

Progressive Stamping Die — EMI Shielding
Our shielding project needed a high-speed progressive die that would not blink. The tool has now cleared two million strokes with minimal wear — credit to steel selection and craftsmanship — with stamping production stable around it.

Ms. Johnson

QUALITY MANAGER · BOSTON, US

Medical Device Latch Component
We hold suppliers to medical-grade quality and immovable timelines. Protech's mold for a delicate latch component was right from the first T1 shot, and the 300,000-piece run shipped at full conformance. Professional from file to freight.

The Questions Every Buyer Asks First
Straight answers to the questions that decide tooling projects — the same answers our project engineers give on live programs.

How long does a custom injection mold take, from order to T1 samples?

For most single-cavity and moderate multi-cavity tools, T1 samples arrive in four to six weeks from approved DFM; complex hot-runner, overmolding or high-cavitation builds typically run six to eight weeks. Every quotation includes a dated schedule with design, steel-cutting, trial and shipment milestones, with progress photos at each gate.

Do you provide DFM and mold flow analysis before cutting steel?

Yes — on every project, and not as a paid extra. Within 24–48 hours of receiving your 3D files we return a DFM report covering draft, wall sections, gate and parting-line proposals plus cost-reduction options, and run mold flow simulation on geometry that warrants it. Steel is ordered only after you sign off — which is why first-shot T1 approval is the norm here.

What tolerances can you actually hold in production?

Tooling components are machined to ±0.002 mm where the design requires it; molded and stamped parts are routinely held at ±0.01–0.02 mm on critical dimensions, verified by CMM and optical measurement with reports supplied per lot. Tolerance depends on material, geometry and gauging, so achievable values are confirmed in writing during DFM.

Who owns the mold — and can it be exported to my facility?

You do. Tools paid for by the customer are customer property, documented as such, engraved with your asset number, and released for export with complete drawings, steel certificates, spare-parts lists and maintenance records whenever you choose. Many clients run tools at our Shenzhen plant for convenience, but ownership and the freedom to move them are contractual from day one.
